Google Drive is enhancing its document scanner on Android with automatic improvements for clearer scans. New features include white balance correction, shadow removal, contrast enrichment and auto sharpening to produce more professional results.
The improved scanner is rolling out gradually:
Rapid Release domains: by January 2
Scheduled Release domains: starting January 6
The feature will be available to all Google Drive users, including Workspace and personal accounts. Ensure your app is updated, though full availability may take until early next year. Users can still crop, rotate, apply filters and choose between PDF or JPEG formats.
