Stealing Apple´s trade secrets – you can end up in prison for 14 years

Six former TSMC employees have been arrested for attempting to steal trade secrets related to the company’s 2nm chip process, which will power Apple’s iPhone 18 A20 chips. TSMC detected the leak attempt through unusual system activity, fired the individuals and launched legal action. Prosecutors say the suspects may have intended to sell the information to a Japanese company. Three have now been indicted, with one facing a recommended 14-year prison sentence under Taiwan’s trade secrets and national security laws.
