Microsoft has unveiled MAI-Image-1, its first in-house text-to-image generator, developed by Microsoft AI. The model focuses on producing photorealistic, non-generic imagery such as landscapes and lightning, and runs faster than larger models. Already ranked in the top 10 on LMArena, MAI-Image-1 joins Microsoft’s growing lineup of proprietary AI tools, including MAI-Voice-1 and MAI-1-preview. Microsoft says it aims to ensure safe and responsible image generation.
