Apple faces new antitrust complaint in China

A Chinese lawyer is once again challenging Apple’s App Store practices, filing a new complaint on behalf of 55 iPhone and iPad users. The case accuses Apple of maintaining a monopoly on iOS app distribution in China, forcing purchases through its In-App Purchase system and charging up to 30% commissions.

This follows a 2021 lawsuit — which Apple won — that claimed the same fees inflated prices. The new filing argues that Apple allows alternative app stores and payment methods in other regions, such as the EU and US, but not in China. The case is now with the State Administration for Market Regulation.
