Apple is reportedly cutting iPhone Air production to near “end-of-production” levels, despite keeping total iPhone 17 lineup output steady at around 85–90 million units, according to Nikkei Asia.
The ultra-thin iPhone Air, praised for its lightweight design but criticized for weaker battery life and a single camera, was expected to make up 10–15% of total production but is now being scaled back sharply from November onward.
Apple is instead increasing production of the base iPhone 17 and Pro models, which have seen strong demand — overall iPhone 17 sales are up 14% over the iPhone 16 series, with base model sales jumping 31%.
