Lumia has unveiled Lumia 2, a smart earring that tracks real-time blood flow to the head to measure energy, focus, and mental clarity. Originally developed with researchers at Johns Hopkins, Duke and Harvard for medical use, the tech is now packaged into a tiny “Lumia Core” that attaches to interchangeable hoop or stud earrings — or even your own jewelry. A cuff option is available for non-pierced ears.
The earring tracks sleep, temperature, menstrual patterns and readiness metrics from the ear, which Lumia claims is a more accurate location for continuous monitoring. It’s lightweight, water-friendly and includes swappable batteries lasting 5–8 days.
Whether constant blood-flow data is actually helpful remains unproven and Lumia 2 isn’t FDA-cleared. The device launches in the US and Canada for $249 (with a required $9.99 monthly membership). Early access is open now, with free upgrades for Lumia 1 owners.
Smart earrings are still niche but Lumia hopes its clinical approach will make the category take off.
