Play Store users may receive an payout as part of Google’s $630 million settlement

Google Play users in the US are receiving legitimate, court-approved emails about a $630 million antitrust settlement involving Google. The case accused Google of overcharging users through the Play Store and in-app billing system, which Google denies but has agreed to settle.

Users who made app or in-app purchases via Google Play between August 16, 2016, and September 30, 2023 may be eligible for at least $2, with payouts sent automatically via PayPal or Venmo after final court approval. No action is required to receive payment.

Accepting the payout means waiving the right to sue Google over the same claims, while objections or opt-outs must be filed by February 19, 2026. The notice is official and does not request sensitive personal information.
