A crypto user claims that Anthropic’s Claude AI helped recover access to a forgotten Bitcoin wallet containing 5 BTC, now worth nearly $400,000. The wallet had reportedly been locked for over 11 years after the owner changed the password while high and later forgot it.
According to the story shared on X, Claude did not “hack” the wallet, but instead helped analyze old files from a college computer and identify a recoverable wallet backup along with an old password clue hidden in notes.
The case highlights one of AI’s practical strengths: searching through large amounts of old data and connecting useful information. While AI still can’t crack Bitcoin wallets, it can assist in complicated recovery efforts that would otherwise take years to solve.
