Tim Cook stepped down as Apple CEO yesterday, with John Ternus set to take over the role today. In an emotional memo to employees, Cook thanked Apple’s team and reflected on his time leading the company.
Cook said he is proudest of Apple’s culture and the people behind its products, adding that he is confident in handing leadership to Ternus, whom he described as “brilliant,” “wonderful” and highly capable.
Cook is not leaving Apple and will remain with the company in a new role. He also thanked the wider Apple community, saying that while his title is changing, his love for Apple will not.
