Apple says the top matte layer of the iPhone Duo’s foldable display can be replaced if it becomes worn. With AppleCare, the replacement costs just $19.99 and can be done through an Apple Service Provider.
AppleCare also covers other repairs, including the inner display for $99 and the cover display or back glass for $29. It remains unclear how much the screen-layer replacement will cost without AppleCare or whether users will eventually be able to use third-party protective layers.
For comparison, Samsung offers one free screen-layer replacement within the first year for Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices, with later replacements costing $19.99.
