General Motors is bringing Google Gemini to around four million U.S. vehicles (2022+ Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models with Google built-in), enabling natural, conversational voice control without rigid commands or constant “Hey Google” prompts.
Powered by General Motors’ long-running OnStar system, Gemini can access live vehicle data and the web, allowing it to understand context, remember previous requests and handle follow-up questions.
Drivers can ask for directions, nearby places, translations or music in a more natural way, while commercial users benefit from features like finding cheaper fuel or trailer-friendly parking. The rollout will happen over the coming months, with an even more advanced AI assistant planned later this year.
