OpenAI co-founder Sutskever’s AI startup SSI raises $1 billion

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), co-founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, has raised $1 billion to develop AI systems surpassing human capabilities. With 10 employees, SSI aims to build a small, highly trusted team in California and Israel. Backed by investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital, SSI focuses on AI safety and long-term R&D. Sutskever, removed from OpenAI after a leadership conflict, sees SSI as a fresh start to scale AI in new ways.
