Rayhunter project helps to avoid your phone tracking

Privacy advocates warn that smartphones can function as surveillance devices, with law enforcement using tools like IMSI catchers (e.g., Stingray) to track users by mimicking cell towers. To combat this, the EFF has introduced Rayhunter, an open-source tool that detects IMSI catchers using an inexpensive Orbic Speed RC400L mobile hotspot. By flashing the device with Rayhunter software, users can monitor suspicious cell tower activity. This project aims to shed light on IMSI catcher use and help protect privacy, especially for activists and protestors.
