Airline companies changed their rules around power banks

Airlines are tightening rules on power banks due to safety risks from lithium batteries. Emirates now bans using or charging them in-flight, joining carriers like Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways. In general, power banks must be in carry-on bags (not checked luggage) and under 100Wh capacity, with some airlines allowing up to 160Wh with approval. Rules vary: Southwest allows up to 20 under 100Wh, Delta allows two up to 160Wh, American is stricter with only four under 100Wh and United permits two 160Wh spares. Always check your airline’s policy, ensure your power bank isn’t damaged, and keep it visible in your carry-on.
