Google and Apple have removed the Red Dot app, which alerted users to nearby ICE activity, citing policy violations.
Google said the app posed a “high risk of abuse” and lacked proper moderation for user-generated content. The company clarified it wasn’t contacted by the U.S. Department of Justice before the removal.
Red Dot described itself as a safety tool that aggregates ICE activity reports from public and anonymous sources to alert users but denied being an ICE-tracking app. The developers have not yet commented on the takedown.
