Google’s new Pixel 10 Pro Fold, touted as the first foldable with an IP68 dust rating, a redesigned hinge and Qi2 charging, suffered a dramatic failure during JerryRigEverything’s durability test — its battery caught fire.
The phone snapped along an antenna line, shorting the battery and triggering an explosion — the first in JRE’s decade of testing. He noted that Google repeated the same weak antenna placement from previous Pixel Folds, comparing it to “building a third Death Star with the same flaw.”
The supposed dust-proof hinge also failed, allowing sand to enter and cause “disturbing crunching sounds.” JRE called the device “the weakest folding phone ever tested”, criticizing Google for overhyping its durability while ignoring persistent design flaws.
