Poll – smartphone design is hurting users’ hands

“Smartphone pinky” — pain caused by resting a phone on the little finger during one-handed use — is more common than many realize. In a poll with over 3,000 votes, 58% of readers said they hold their phones this way, despite discomfort, while 23% use a one-handed grip with four fingers behind the device. Few users rely on accessories or two-handed use, and many shared stories of ongoing pain or even finger deformation, underscoring that modern smartphones are often poorly designed for comfortable long-term holding.
