Google is reportedly planning a major display upgrade for the Pixel 12 Pro Fold, potentially adopting the same dual-UTG (ultra-thin glass) technology expected to debut on Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
According to The Elec, Google, Oppo and Vivo are working with Samsung Display on next-generation foldable panels featuring two UTG layers – one above the OLED display and another underneath for additional support. The technology is designed to significantly reduce or eliminate the visible crease.
Oppo and Vivo are expected to launch their new foldables in the first half of 2027, while Google’s Pixel 12 Pro Fold is reportedly planned for the second half of the year, likely around August.
