AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have formally launched a joint venture aimed at reducing mobile dead zones across the US, particularly in underserved and rural areas.
The initiative will focus on direct-to-device satellite connectivity, shared spectrum resources and common technical standards. The carriers will continue operating independently while working together to improve coverage and emergency connectivity.
Wireless industry veteran Paul Roth has been appointed interim CEO, with a permanent CEO still being sought. However, there is currently no timeline for when customers will start seeing the benefits.
