Apple’s first foldable iPhone, widely rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra, may be extremely difficult to buy at launch due to limited initial supply, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The device is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup in September, featuring a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.8-inch foldable inner screen and a price between $2,300 and $2,500. However, Apple is reportedly planning to ship only 0.5–1 million units in the third quarter, raising the possibility of delayed availability similar to the iPhone X launch.
Kuo predicts delivery times could exceed four to six weeks, with supply remaining tight until at least December. Strong demand and limited stock may also lead to significant resale markups shortly after launch.
