Chicago startup Ganance has introduced “Heir,” a small sensor that attaches to the back of any analog watch, bringing basic smartwatch features without needing a full smartwatch.
The coin-sized device tracks steps, distance and calories, syncing data to iPhone apps like Apple Health, with Android support coming soon. It also offers simple controls like tapping to manage music and vibration alerts for calls and messages.
Future updates are expected to add features such as activity breakdowns, sedentary tracking, adaptive goals and notifications from apps like WhatsApp and Slack.
However, battery life is limited to about 42 hours, meaning frequent charging is required.
